Bonding & Fillings

Untreated dental decay can lead to infection, root canals, and loss of teeth. When cavities form, fillings provide an affordable and effective way to repair the tooth. However, there are many types of fillings that can be used and patients are often unaware of the important differences between them.

Dr. Tischler offers tooth colored, metal free, composite-resin fillings that provide a healthy and functional smile with cosmetic results. No one should look in a mirror to see blackened, amalgam silver fillings in their teeth. Tooth colored composite-resin restorations provide health benefits, a white colored tooth, a filling that will last for years, and will yield stronger teeth when compared to metal fillings. Tooth-colored fillings bond to your tooth and can help prevent future fractures in the tooth. Composite-resin fillings can be easily replaced and repaired if they become damaged. They also provide a healthy, functional smile without compromising aesthetics. Dr. Tischler can also use bonding to correct small gaps (Diastemas) and chips in teeth. In just one visit, Dr. Tischler can return your teeth to their natural appearance.

Root Canal (Endodontics)

There are many reasons why a tooth may require root canal therapy. A deep cavity may enter the nerve chamber in the tooth causing the tooth to become painful and infected or the tooth may have been traumatized in a fall or while playing sports causing the nerve inside the tooth to become infected and discolored. Whatever the cause may be, root canal treatment (endodontic treatment) removes the infected, dying nerve from the tooth allowing the patient to keep there own tooth in their mouth rather needing an extraction. After the root canal treatment is completed the tooth is most often restored with a crown to make the tooth strong and whole again. Dr. Tischler is aware of the apprehension and anxiety that many patients experience when told they require root canal therapy and uses his years of experience doing endodontic treatment in Rego Park, Queens, NY to make root canal therapy as pain free as possible. At CLT Dentistry, Dr. Tischler makes use of local anesthetics, Nitrous Oxide Gas (Sweet Air) and medications to make your root canal experience as pleasant as possible.

Gum Treatment (Periodontics)

Many patients experience bleeding and inflamed gums, loose teeth or pain in their gums. Bleeding gums are often the first symptom of the beginning stages of gum disease (Periodontal Disease). Periodontal Disease affects 80% of adults in the United States at some point in their life and is considered the number one cause of adult tooth loss. Periodontal Disease can be treated in a variety of ways both non-surgically and surgically depending on the severity of the problem. Gum disease is preventable, treatable and when diagnosed in its early stages can often be reversed. At CLT dentistry all adult patients are routinely and continuously assessed for gum disease. By doing so Dr Tischler can greatly reduce the chance of gum disease developing and preventing it from subtly, silently and sometimes painlessly progressing to infection and tooth loss. If Dr Tischler does detect gum disease, a specific treatment plan is devised that may include special products that are available to treat gum disease and clinical procedures available in the office with proven results.

Extractions

When a tooth is severely diseased and not restorable, or when a wisdom tooth is impacted, the tooth may need to be extracted to prevent further infection and dental problems. Many people are apprehensive and experience anxiety when told they need a tooth extracted because they assume the procedure will be painful. Have no fear, Dr. Tischler can provide a pain free extraction experience. In his state of the art dental operatory, Dr. Tischler can use local anesthetic to prevent pain and Nitrous Oxide Gas (Sweet Air) to alleviate any anxiety. He can then provide a dental implant, fixed bridge, or removable denture to restore the missing tooth area and bring back your healthy smile.

TMJ & Bruxing Treatment

Tempromandibular Joint Disorder, or TMJ, is fairly common in our society and approximately 10 million people currently suffer from the disorder. TMJ can cause phantom tooth pains, chronic headaches, facial pain, excessive tooth wear, and difficulty with chewing.

Dr. Tischler can stabilize the bite and alleviate jaw tension. Normally, this is achieved with a nightguard that is thin, flexible, and customized to your needs. The nightguard restores equilibrium, unloads the TMJ, and prevents the harmful effects of teeth grinding (bruxing). Other therapies include medications, bite balancing, and TMJ stress-relief exercises. After a thorough diagnosis, Dr. Tischler will recommend the TMJ treatment that’s best suited to your needs.

Dentures

Dentures have been used in dentistry since the days of George Washington to successfully replace missing teeth. They continue to be a wonderful and affordable option for many people who are missing some or all of their teeth. Recent advances in materials, denture care, comfort, and appearance of metal free denture is revolutionary.

Many consider Dr. Tischler an artist in denture cosmetics and denture comfort. Dr. Tischler understands that a good denture is a cosmetic advantage. A good denture provides a more youthful appearance by restoring sagging cheeks and collapsed lips. Same day dentures are also available at CLT Dentistry.
